Presales Manager - IT Outsourcing and Managed Services

The IT Managed Services and Outsourcing Presales Manager plays an important and active role role that involves a mix of technical expertise, sales acumen, and management skills to effectively lead the PreSales activities. This position is currently an individual contributor role positioned to grow to grow into a business unit on its own as profit center within the organization. 

Responsibilities : The responsibilities includes but not limited to the following areas of sub-functions. 

Client Engagement - Build and maintain relationships with potential clients, understanding their IT needs, and providing tailored solutions. This includes conducting meetings, presentations, and product demonstrations.

Solution Development -  Collaborate with the technical team to design customized IT solutions that align with clients' business objectives. These solutions may include managed IT services, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and more.

RFP / RFQ Response - Lead the development of proposals, RFP (Request for Proposal) responses, and other documents that outline the technical solutions, pricing, and benefits for potential clients.

Functional / Technical Expertise - Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in managed IT services and outsourcing. Use this knowledge to recommend innovative solutions to clients.

Team Management - In the near future, Supervise a team of presales engineers and specialists. Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to ensure the team's effectiveness in delivering technical solutions.

Sales Support - Collaborate closely with the sales team to align technical solutions with sales strategies. Assist in identifying upsell or cross-sell opportunities within existing client accounts.

Qualification and Risk Assessment - Evaluate the feasibility and risks associated with potential projects. Identify any technical, operational, or financial constraints that could impact the success of an engagement.

Documentation - Maintain detailed documentation of presales activities, including client communications, technical specifications, and solution designs.

Cost Analysis - Develop cost estimates for proposed IT solutions, ensuring they align with the client's budget and ROI expectations.

Qualifications

Technical Background : A bachelor's degree in a related field, such as computer science or information technology, is often required. A master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, AWS, or Microsoft) can be beneficial.

Industry Experience : 10+ years of experience in IT, preferably in roles involving managed services, IT consulting, or outsourcing. Experience in presales or bid management and sales engineering is highly valuable.

Technical Knowledge : A deep understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud computing, cybersecurity, network architecture, and related technologies is essential.

Sales and Communication Skills : Excellent communication and presentation skills are crucial for effectively conveying technical information to non-technical stakeholders. Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills are also vital.

Leadership Abilities : Experience in managing technical teams, including presales engineers and specialists. Leadership qualities, such as mentoring and motivating staff, are essential.

Analytical Skills : The ability to analyze clients' needs, business processes, and technical requirements to develop customized solutions.

Problem-Solving : A talent for identifying potential issues, risks, and solutions during the presales process.

Business Acumen : Understanding the financial aspects of IT solutions, including cost-benefit analysis and pricing strategies.
