Position Summary
On behalf of one of our clients - a largest international construction company, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of electrical substation projects. The ideal candidate must possess a BS degree in Electrical Engineering with 15-20 years of relevant experience in electrical substations. Experience with the Saudi Electric Company (SEC) or SEC approval is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management
Lead and manage end-to-end project lifecycle for electrical substation projects, including planning, design, procurement, execution, and commissioning. Develop project schedules, allocate resources, and ensure adherence to timelines and budgets. Monitor project performance using KPIs and industry-standard project management practices. Ensure compliance with SEC standards, regulations, and quality requirements.
Technical Leadership
Review and approve technical designs, drawings, and specifications for electrical substation components such as transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and protection systems. Coordinate with design and engineering teams to resolve technical issues and optimize substation designs. Evaluate and recommend innovative solutions to improve project efficiency and operational performance.
Stakeholder Coordination
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, particularly SEC, ensuring clear communication and maintaining strong relationships. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including consultants, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies. Manage project documentation, including reports, permits, and contractual obligations.
Risk & Compliance Management
Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks related to safety, quality, and environmental factors. Ensure compliance with SEC standards, local Saudi regulations, and international electrical standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE). Conduct site inspections to verify work quality and adherence to safety protocols.
Team Leadership
Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, supervisors, and site personnel. Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the project team.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BS in EE). 15-20 years of relevant experience in electrical substations, with at least 5 years in project management roles. Approval from Saudi Electric Company (SEC) or substantial working experience on SEC projects. In-depth knowledge of SEC’s standards, processes, and regulatory frameworks. Proficient in project management methodologies (e.g., PMP certification preferred). Experience with project management tools such as MS Project or Primavera. Strong understanding of substation components, electrical protection systems, and high-voltage equipment. Familiarity with international standards like IEC, IEEE, and NFPA. Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Proficient in Arabic and English (preferred but not mandatory).
Preferred Experience:
Previous experience working in the GCC region, especially Saudi Arabia. Knowledge of renewable energy integration into substations (optional but advantageous).
Experience with the Saudi Electric Company (SEC) or SEC approval is mandatory.
