EMS Engineer – uCMDB

Job Purpose
Talent Leaders is mandated to headhunt an EMS Engineer – uCMDB to support a prestigious government-aligned digital infrastructure initiative in Qatar. The EMS Engineer will be responsible for defining, developing, and maintaining technology standards within the Enterprise Management Systems (EMS) discipline. This role requires strong technical leadership in the administration and operations of EMS platforms—particularly MicroFocus uCMDB. The ideal candidate will proactively improve service delivery, collaborate across departments, and ensure alignment of EMS architecture with organizational goals and service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Enterprise Management Systems with a focus on uCMDB
  • Lead the full product lifecycle for EMS solutions from planning to execution
  • Ensure secure, stable, and fully integrated EMS services across IT infrastructure
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation and enforce baseline standards
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to develop and implement innovative, scalable solutions
  • Provide advanced support, perform troubleshooting, and optimize discovery/integration processes
  • Deliver capacity, availability, and reliability reporting for EMS tools
  • Drive technology and process improvements to enhance system reliability and efficiency
  • Support technical training efforts and knowledge transfer internally and to clients
  • Participate in beta testing, pilot programs, and service design initiatives
  • Ensure adherence to corporate and technical standards and compliance protocols

Skills & Experience Requirements
Minimum 5 years of experience in IT services or technology-focused organizations
Proven experience (5+ years) in technical ownership roles, particularly in EMS
Strong hands-on experience with MicroFocus uCMDB (v2019.05 or later)
Proficient in:

  • uCMDB administration, discovery, and integration setup

  • Universal Discovery (UD) – agent-based and agentless configurations

  • TQL (Topology Query Language) for advanced queries and CI reporting

  • uCMDB REST API & Web Services

  • Python, PowerShell, or Shell scripting for automation

  • Database query handling for issue diagnosis and reporting
    Familiarity with SMAX, OBM integrations, and ITOM/ITSM processes (Incident, Change, Asset Management)
    Knowledge of CMDB best practices, data governance, reconciliation, and compliance
    Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
    Effective communication skills for cross-functional team collaboration
    ITIL certification or training is considered an asset

Working Relationships
Collaborate with internal teams including NOC, Service Desk, Infrastructure, and Application Support
Work with Service Portfolio, Sales, and Solution teams to customize and monetize EMS solutions
Provide technical guidance and support to external clients as needed

The role does not have budget ownership or direct reports
The position requires a strong customer-centric mindset and ability to operate in a high-availability IT environment
