Job Summary
Safeguard state revenue by ensuring compliance with Qatar’s Income Tax Law, regulations, and tax treaties. Focus on reviewing corporate income tax and withholding tax returns, conducting risk-based audits, and detecting non-compliance by domestic and multinational enterprises. Play a key role in protecting the tax base, ensuring fairness, and contributing to the integrity of the direct tax system.
Key Responsibilities
Review corporate income tax, capital gains tax, and withholding tax returns for accuracy and completeness.
Verify correct application of tax rates, exemptions, deductions, and treaty relief.
Conduct risk-based audits of high-value and high-risk taxpayers.
Perform desk and field audits, reviewing financial records.
Examine transfer pricing arrangements, intercompany transactions, and thin capitalisation practices.
Verify withholding tax compliance for cross-border payments.
Identify tax avoidance/evasion schemes, including BEPS.
Investigate misstatements, concealed income, and aggressive tax planning.
Cross-check filings with third-party data.
Draft audit reports with findings and recommendations.
Support assessments, penalties, and enforcement actions.
Provide technical advice on complex direct tax matters.
Liaise with legal counsel during disputes.
Mentor junior examiners and contribute to SOPs for audits.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Taxation.
Master’s in Taxation, International Tax, or related field preferred.
Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CA, CTA) strongly preferred.
7–10 years’ experience in direct tax auditing, ideally in a tax authority, Big Four firm, or regulator.
Expertise in multinational audits, cross-border taxation, and withholding tax compliance.
Proven ability to detect tax avoidance, evasion, and aggressive planning schemes.
Strong knowledge of Qatar’s Income Tax Law, executive regulations, and double taxation agreements.
Familiarity with Qatar’s key business sectors.
Excellent analytical and investigative skills.
Arabic and English proficiency highly desirable.
