Apply to Data Governance Specialist

Purpose of the role

Design and operationalise the enterprise data governance framework, including the operating model, policy set, roles and accountabilities, and the mechanisms by which governance is actually enforced rather than merely published.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct current-state data governance maturity assessment and gap analysis against national data policy and data standard requirements.
• Design the target data governance operating model: council and committee structures, data ownership, data stewardship, custodianship and escalation routes.
• Author the data governance policy suite, standards, procedures and supporting artefacts.
• Define and build the business glossary, data dictionary, metadata management approach and data cataloguing standards.
• Establish data classification, data sharing, data retention and data privacy control requirements consistent with national regulation.
• Define governance KPIs, the data trust index methodology and the reporting cadence.
• Support selection and configuration input for data governance tooling.
• Transfer knowledge to client-side stewards and owners so the framework survives after the consultancy exits.

Mandatory requirements

• Technical or economic academic background (for example computer science, information systems, engineering, economics, business analytics).
• Minimum 10 years of professional work experience, of which at least 3 years directly in data governance roles.
• Minimum 1 completed engagement covering both the definition of a data governance strategy and support to its implementation, delivered for an organisation in the MENA region.
• Working knowledge of a recognised governance body of knowledge (DAMA DMBOK, DCAM, or equivalent).
• Fluent professional English.

Advantageous

• DAMA CDMP, CIMP, or equivalent certification.
• Hands-on exposure to Collibra, Informatica Axon, Alation, Microsoft Purview, IBM or Ataccama toolsets.
• Power and Utilities sector experience.
• Arabic language capability.
• Prior work aligned to Qatar National Data Policy, NDMO Saudi Arabia, or UAE federal data regulation.
