Legal Counsel- Corporate & Commercial (Junior Level)

  • Doha, Qatar

Legal Counsel — Corporate & Commercial (Junior Level)
Doha, Qatar | Full-time, on-site | Immediate start

About the role

Our client is a Qatari corporation operating in a strategic, capital-intensive sector with significant international counterparties. The legal function supports the business end to end: commercial contracting, corporate transactions, regulatory compliance, and workforce matters. This is a junior seat with direct exposure to senior counsel and management from day one. Suitable for a strong recent graduate or a lawyer with up to three years of experience who wants substantive work rather than document review.

What you will do

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements: supply, offtake, distribution, agency, services, EPC and consultancy contracts, NDAs, and MoUs
  • Support joint ventures, shareholder arrangements, and partnerships with foreign counterparties, including choice-of-law, jurisdiction, and dispute resolution analysis
  • Advise on cross-border transactions and the conflict-of-laws issues that arise where Qatari law interacts with foreign legal systems
  • Handle intellectual property matters: trademark and technology licensing, confidentiality and know-how protection, and IP clauses in commercial contracts
  • Advise the HR function on Qatar Labour Law No. 14 of 2004 and its amendments, MOL procedures, disciplinary and grievance matters, and expatriate employment issues
  • Support corporate governance: board and committee documentation, resolutions, delegations of authority, and statutory filings
  • Liaise with ministries, regulators, and external counsel; prepare legal opinions and risk assessments in both Arabic and English

Requirements

  • 0 to 3 years post-qualification experience. Outstanding fresh graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Bachelor of Laws from Qatar University or an equivalent recognised institution
  • JD or LLM from Hamad Bin Khalifa University or a comparable common law programme, giving demonstrable grounding in common law contract, commercial, and private international law principles
  • Native-level Arabic with professional English: must be able to draft, negotiate, and advise in both languages without support
  • Sound working knowledge of Qatari commercial, civil, and labour legislation
  • Currently resident in Qatar and able to join immediately. Candidates requiring sponsorship transfer must hold a valid NOC
