Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Electrical Substation Project Manager with proven expertise in executing large-scale EPC projects within the Oil & Gas sector. The successful candidate will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of substation projects, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, schedule, quality, and HSE standards. This role requires strong technical knowledge in substation systems, excellent stakeholder management, and the ability to drive multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage end-to-end execution of electrical substation EPC projects (132kV/220kV/400kV and above) within Oil & Gas environments.
Oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management.
Ensure compliance with international codes and standards (IEC, IEEE, ISO) and client specifications.
Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams for seamless project delivery.
Review technical designs, drawings, and specifications for substation equipment including transformers, switchgear, protection & control systems, SCADA, and auxiliary systems.
Manage vendors and subcontractors, including contract administration, technical evaluation, and progress monitoring.
Ensure timely procurement and delivery of long-lead substation equipment (GIS, AIS, transformers, busbars, protection relays).
Drive site execution, erection, testing, and commissioning activities ensuring compliance with quality and HSE standards.
Conduct regular project reviews and provide progress reports to senior management and clients.
Manage project risks, change orders, claims, and ensure mitigation strategies are implemented.
Interface with client representatives, consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure project approvals and smooth execution.
Provide leadership to multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring alignment with project objectives and KPIs.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
12+ years of experience in managing substation projects, with at least 5 years in a project manager role.
Strong background in Oil & Gas EPC project execution with exposure to large-scale infrastructure projects.
In-depth knowledge of substation design, protection systems, and commissioning procedures.
Familiarity with project management tools (Primavera P6, MS Project) and ERP systems.
Strong commercial acumen with experience in contract administration, claims, and negotiations.
Proven ability to lead large cross-functional teams in multicultural environments.
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Knowledge of HSE standards and implementation in Oil & Gas projects.
PMP/Prince2 certification is an advantage.
